Regional Development Project for Poverty Reduction (Phase 2)

Scaling the targeted interventions of its initial phase, the Regional Development Project for Poverty Reduction (Phase 2) deepens rural development efforts across Myanmar’s states and regions to narrow the urban–rural economic divide. Supported by Japanese Official Development Assistance (ODA), this second phase scales up investments in foundational basic infrastructure—upgrading secondary road networks, reinforcing all-weather bridges, extending mini-grid and rural power distribution, and installing reliable potable water supply facilities. By resolving persistent logistical barriers in remote agrarian districts, Phase2 dramatically improves year-round access to vital markets, regional healthcare, and schools, driving inclusive economic growth and establishing durable community self-reliance across underserved populations.

Oriental Consultants Japan, a global consulting subsidiary, has driven Myanmar’s infrastructure development since 2014.
