Many of the Myanmar Railway Routes were constructed during the British colonial era, and maintenance and management by Myanma Railway (MR) were inadequate. Deterioration of railway facilities and equipment caused train speed down, delay, derailment accidents, etc and safe and stable train operation is difficult. Among the domestic railways, approximately 620km longed the Yangon-Mandalay Line is the most important line connecting Yangon, largest commercial city, the capital Nay Pyi Taw, and the second commercial city, Mandalay.
